PROTEST AGAINST VANISHING OF ATM

ATM-1

To the surprise of the general public an SBI ATM installed at the DCSMAT (DC School of Management and Technology) Campus in Pullikkanam, Vagamon, Idukki vanished around 3.30 PM on 24.05.2016. The ATM was set up in accordance with the Central Government policy that promises banking facilities in every rural areas of the Country. Hundreds of people in the area including students and natives depended on this ATM as for a radius of 10 km there are no other ATMs available. The public had not been notified about the removal of the same and the ATM was taken away despite the protests raised by the general public.

The State Bank of India seems to have gone against its own dictum and tag line of being the “Banker to every Indian” with this action. The concerned authorities of the bank need to look into reinstalling the ATM if they need to retrieve the confidence of the people and uphold the goodwill of the bank in the area.

A complaint has been lodged with the Kanjar (Thodupuzha) and Vagamon Police Stations in this regard.
