Iftar party at DCSMAT Vagamon

Iftar party has become a part of many celebrations at Vagamon campus. It’s always conducted after the new batches of juniors arrive, as it provides an occasion for the senior batch students to familiarize the junior batch in the conduct of this programme. Though it is organized by the Muslim students in campus, all others pitch in to organize and coordinate the activities. This year’s Iftar party was organized on 8th July.

Second Show by Phoenix Club

As the title indicates – it was a movie night on 5th of July, organized by the Phoenix Club of DCSMAT Vagamon. Being a residential campus, some evenings are set aside for recreational activities such as these. These are also occasions when students of all courses get to interact with each other.

Research Article Published, titled ” A STUDY ON WOMEN BUYING BEHAVIOR TOWARDS COSMETIC PRODUCTS IN KERALA ” By Prof. Jyothi Vijayan

Abstract:
The purpose of the paper is to study the buying behavior of women towards cosmetics. 150 samples were
taken from the Thrissur district of Kerala. The research consists of both primary and secondary data. The
statistical tools used were one sample t-test, frequency analysis and multiple response analysis. Women
consider quality as the most important factor to purchase cosmetics. The findings of the study can be used
by the marketers to design marketing strategy for cosmetics products.

Research Article Published, titled ”Factors Affecting Purchase Intention towards Pre Owned Cars“ By Dr.Deepthi Sankar

Abstract : Purchase intention is the willingness of a customer to buy a product. This is influenced by attitudes, product and dealer related factors, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control. Realising the importance of these factors in formulating the marketing strategies of a product, the present research is undertaken to study the influence of these factors on the purchase intention of consumers of pre owned cars in Kerala. This study examines the purchasing intention towards pre owned cars using the Theory of Planned Behaviour because this model takes into account these factors and its impact on purchase intention. The specific objectives are a) To study the relationship between product related factors and consumer attitude towards the purchase intention of pre owned cars b) To study the relationship between dealer related factors and consumer attitude towards the purchase intention of pre owned cars c) To analyse the relationship between consumers’ attitude and purchase intention d) To analyse the relationship between subjective norms and purchase intention and e) To analyse the relationship between perceived behavioural control and purchase intention. The study is confined to consumers who own and use pre owned cars purchased from authorised dealers in Kerala. The study was based on field research and made use of both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected from 300 respondents distributed in five districts of Kerala. The data collected for the study was analysed using PLS. The study found that product related factors plays a vital role in shaping attitude of consumers towards pre owned cars which in turn influence the purchase intention. Purchase intention of pre owned car consumers are significantly influenced by the subjective norms and perceived behavioural control. This study would help marketers to understand the purchase intention of pre owned car consumers and formulate the marketing strategies accordingly.

Gets NOC from Govt of Kerala for the second B.Arch Batch

The Government of Kerala has accorded their No objection Certificate for additional intake of  40  B.Arch seats at DC School of Architecture And Design (DC SAAD), Vagamon during the academic year 2019-20.

Students with minimum 50%  aggregate marks in Plus-2, 50% aggregate marks in PCM subjects & valid NATA score can now submit an application through the online module of the college web site www.dcsmat.com.   Students appearing in July NATA may also apply. These additional intakes will be subject to final affiliation by Mahatma Gandhi University.

SEED Project @ DCSMAT Trivandrum Campus

DCSMAT, Trivandrum hosted the inauguration of the SEED (Student Empowerment for Environmental Development) club, an initiative of Mathrubhumi on 24 July 2019. Mr. Saji Kumar, Coordinator, Radio DC welcomed the gathering and  Prof. Lt Col Premnathan V K, Director DCSMAT, Trivandrum delivered presidential address. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri. Udayan Nair, a retired Forest Department Officer and a die-hard environmentalist. It was a proud moment for DCSMAT, Trivandrum to start this initiative for the first time at college level.  As part of the initiative, SEED team planted saplings of Aloe Vera in the college premises. DCSMAT, Trivandrum also runs an organic farming unit under the supervision of Mr. Yadhu Krishna and Ms. Emy Edison, student representatives of MBA 19-21. The seed club is organized in schools and colleges to create awareness among students about the need to protect and nurture the environment.

CII Leadership Summit “‘Reimagining the Future’ attended by DCSMAT Vagamon team

Confederation of Indian Industry organized a Leadership Summit “Reimagining the future” on 28th June at Zuri Resorts, Kumarakom.  The speakers included thought leaders from various types of industries. All speakers presented various perspectives related to future. While Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM spoke about the “True sense of leadership”, Prof. Abraham Koshy spoke about “Connecting with tomorrow’s customers”. The summit also had a chat session with 2017’s Yuva Sahitya Akademi Award, Mr. Manu S Pillai. Mr. Prakash Raj’s book “Soothradharanaru Veshakkaranaru” was released during the event by Prof. Debashis Chatterjee. IWN Chairwoman (Kerala Chapter) and COO Federal Bank Ms. Shalini Warrier and Ms. Lakshmi N Menon – co-founder Chekutty were the other speakers at the event. 

A team of 10 students from the first year MBA Batch of DCSMAT Vagamon, attended the event. They were accompanied by faculty members including the Principal.

Research Article Published – “THE EFFECT OF PERSONAL FINANCE KNOWLEDGE: DETERMINANTS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR INVESTMENT BEHAVIOUR” By Prof Jyothi PT

Abstract: A person’s capability to manage his personal finance has become important in today’s world. Majority of the educated young Indians do not use modern financial market instruments. They have to become more aware about the dynamics of the financial world. The present study is an attempt to analyze the status of investment behavior with two antecedents namely socio demographic characteristics and personal finance knowledge. A sample of 325 educated youth was studied to understand the role of identified antecedents on investment behaviour. To analyse the collected data, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test ,one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson’s correlation coefficient have been used. The study concluded that the investment behaviour is influenced by their sociodemographic characters and the objective of saving and selection investment avenues is observed to have a negative impact.
